S3#110 - Molders Vs Malan - Battle of Britain - July 1940 Sunday 28 July saw two of the greatest pilots of the Battle duel for the first time. German bombers turned back without dropping their bombs, and Sailor Malan found himself leading 74 Squadron Spitfires against more than 40 Bf 109Es from JG 51, led by Major Werner Molders. The South African quickly downed one 109 then raked Molders from spinner to rudder post, lightly wounding the German forcing him to leave the fight and a short stay in hospital. The Battle of Britain was just about to go fully operational when these two experienced leaders clashed. Both air forces were operating over the Straits of Dover trying to gauge the skill and resolve of their opponents. This series will highlight the early ETO match-up with all revised FMs for the fighters involved. This will be the first time in the last decade that all fighters involved in a BoB series are at the same FM development level. Players will have to fly the good, the bad and the ugly to win. Mainly a fighter vs fighter event but those players so inclined to fly bombers will have the opportunity to really effect the outcome of the series by attacking important operational targets. Events are now unlocked so those wishing to interact with S3 squadrons may do so. Information will be provided to interested players at login. Come see what the we are all about. This event features the Blitz terrain in the S3 Arena at 8:30PM Eastern/5:30 PM Pacific. Rules and planesets are still in development by the new S3 crew. Hi all. I sent an an email out requesting volunteers for allied CO a few days ago....no response. So I'm requesting again.... Needed. Volunteer(s) to CO the Allies. This can be for the entire series or for specific frames. The earlier we get volunteers, the more involved the frame CO(s) can be in the planning and setting up of the frame/arena. This may include among other things: choosing fields that your squads will be based from choosing how the ai ships, buffs and GVs operate. We want to give CO’s time to plan as well…the earlier we get volunteers, the more time you will have. We are looking forward to a new era of S3’s!
