The S3 table lists the 109 E-1, but above it isn't... Was the E-1 really flown in this time frame?

E-1 was the second most numerous Emil during BoB after the E-3. Problem is many had their armament upgraded and engines upgraded along the way to E-3 or E4 status. Hard to get exact numbers because we have no Flugzeugbestände und Bewegungsmeldungen Reports before March 1942. The internet reports them lost forever but we can hope they turn up somewhere. These are by far the best resource for German aircraft numbers and types per unit often down to each modification each plane had.

But there are several photos on the web showing E1s as late as Sept 1940 shotdown over England. Another resource are the British Crashed Enemy Aircraft Reports of this period but I think most are still undigitized at the British National Archives. I am sure Bollock can confirm.

I knew someone could shed more light on the subject, thanks.

I just figured the vast majority had been upgraded with the time they had before the BoB.
