In the new minor update several flightmodels have had their stall speed lowered. This because their stall speed was based on "Power OFF" data when being remodeled, whereas all our newer flightmodels have had their stalls speed based on "Power ON" data (mid throttle). The changes in this update affect both the Fw 190A-4 and P-47D in the current S3 series to the same extent though, so won't be unfair to any side. Also the P-51B have had it's stall speed slightly lowered.

A to high stall speed is the reason as to why many pilots from both sides have noted that the FW 190 and P-47 feel very sluggish above 20 000 ft. While they will hardly turn like A6M Zeros with this stall speed fix, they should now handle closer to real life performance and be more maneuverable, especially at higher altitudes.

Please note this is a minor update and that the reworked Spitfire series along with brand new Mosquitos, Seafire III and the Yak-9U will instead be released soon in the upcoming FL2055.

--= Reworked Stall Speeds =--
The first few flightmodel series reworked by the new Flightmodel Team had their stall speed set based on historical "Power OFF" data. The newer releases however have been based on "Power ON" stall speed data (mid throttle), which makes a 6-12 mph stall difference for an average ww2 fighter. This has a notable impact on the fighter's agility when pulling G's and on it's turn performance, especially at higher altitudes. All the fighters which were previously based on power OFF data have now been re-tuned to bring them at a fair playing ground with the rest of the reworked flightmodels. Players can notice that the following fighters below will now be more competitive regarding turning performance and high altitude maneuverability.

Apprixomate stall speed reductions in this update (mph IAS):
Lavochkin series: 9 mph
P-47 series: 9 mph
Fw 190 series: 8 mph
Yak series: 8 mph
MiG-3: 8 mph
P-51 series: 5 mph
F6F-5: 5 mph
N1K1-J: 2 mph

Note: The P-51's, F6F-5 and N1K1-J were already a few mph below power OFF stall speed, and as such received a smaller reduction. Also the stall speed reductions have no effect on the flightmodels top speed or climb rate.

P47D now has only center fuel tank. Was that an intended change? It had left right and center tanks before. Kind of negates the Jug as a long range escort.

Can't remember either bollok, but the pilot handbook states separate selection valves for main and auxiliary tanks. Wonder if the code is numbers to what tanks, then maybe you can and change the wording show in buffer from right wing tank to auxiliary tank.

Just a thought.

As Warbirds doesn't model self sealing tanks, a fuel leak in single tank planes is a particular hardship, especially in the S3's were a long rtb is required.

The Jugs have only had a fuselage (center) fuel tank since they were updated in Summer 2017. The P-47's, as Bollok illustrated, only had two fuselage tanks which in Warbirds are compiled into a single "center tank". The wing tanks it previously had was yet another error by previous programmers. I wish we were able to model self-sealing tanks as this would definitely be a welcome addition to the game, but unfortunately the code doesn't allow it. At least the P-47D-25 fighter holds 370 US gal, so one has a decent chance of getting back home if being fueled at high altitude, although one cannot continue to escort.

Btw I made a speed comparison of the FM's in this S3. Note that Bf 109's and P-38's have not yet been remodeled. The P-38J speed currently is... well... yeah... :D :

Agreed! I am still pissed about that IJ S3 with those phucking 38s.

And the Friendly Fire was a salt lick in the open cavity.

Hmm, as Yamon wrote one could simply make the auxiliary tank into a "right wing tank" with 100 gal, as the two fuel tanks IRL are separated from each other with no internal fuel transfer between them. It is not possible though to reword it, and this tank would as such be named "internal right tank". Not very pretty but would give the P-47 two separate fuel tanks (Would also have to redo the hitboxes). Will bring it up with the FM Team.

The “Dawger rocking motion” in the P38 above 20k is nauseating. Got a headache from my one sortie in the Lightning. Can’t understand how a twin engine plane with counter rotating props could wallow back and forth like a small boat in rough seas. Kind of funny when you are experiencing it. No way to trim her unless you keep you climb speed around 170 mph.

Also, Any turn in the 38 above 30k and she flips over and falls out of the sky. She may be fast but pretty worthless engaging at high alt. Now under 20k the P38 is fine, better than fine...
