Post subject: | ABTF Frame 2 Summary |
http://www.squadselectseries.com - new map, summary and squad individual scores up In frame 2 the Allies again went hard supporting their spearhead into German held Belgium. Tiffies and heavy Spitfires quickly hit the forward airfield at F113 closing it and then moved onto the nearby spawns of Tac34 causing extensive damage. German Bf109G14s formed and climbed to the west to take them on but were in turn bounced by a higher group of Spitfire XIVs. In the air battle over 113 eleven 109s were shotdown for Two spitfires and two Typhoons. But while this battle raged to the west a group of B25s came into Tac48 to hit the central spawn area and ran into most of the German FW190 force. The B25Hs were at low level and it proved difficult to get at their vulnerable underbellies but still 9 were shotdown for the loss of five Luftwaffe. At the same time as the fight raged at 34 and 48 German jabos came in to hit G114 airfield taking down Allied aircraft parked on the runway. They would return later in the day to hit the airfield again causing extensive damage as well as the bridges and river boats at 36. Nine specialist jabo FW190F8s would fail to return from these sorties. The second attack by B25s on 48 and nearby F117 came in midday but the Germans were ready for them. Heavy damage was caused to 117 but in the fight 16 Mitchells were shotdown only claiming two interceptors in return. Allied escort did claim a further four Luftwaffe trying to get down low to the bombers. The final B25 run later helped close TAC34 taking down the far eastward spawn point. A final 7 bombers were lost but escorting Spitfires got in among the FW190A8s attacking and downed 6 of them for the loss of 5. The Luftwaffe win Frame 2 by a wide margin 235 to 155. The main difference was the plus minus scores for the Luftwaffe which was 58 to 17. Too many bombers were lost taking down unimportant targets. Airfields are key and need to be closed for extra points. The front is moving toward Nijmegan from the south. XXX Corps is set to relieve the Americans there. F23, 26, 114 and 34 are all closed for the series. NOTES: 1. Spindz found a bug in the eto that was causing each death to count as two. That was why so many people needed resets. Should be better in Frame 3. 2. Spindz found a setting in the eto setting that was causing it to act as M4Tank and not WBs. That should help closed fields appear in the buffer. 3. Please update before game day. Fixed the sticky grass at G119. Some issues with the updater. Try another IENlauncher.exe if having problems. I did find two in my installation. |

We also closed 113 and were not told 114 was closed, you told me there were still a few targets left at 114 with only 2 minutes to attack and no LW attacks were made in that time. Are you confusing 113 with 114? |

Allies received points for closing G113 and Tac34. They also recieved points for damaging G117. The Axis only received points for damaging 114. I think the problem during the night was the extensive effort in B25 lives to hit only the central spawn of TAC48. Unless you hit all the other spawns it was a wasted effort. Again G117 was heavily damaged but not closed because effort was subtracted hitting the central spawn of TAC48. That being said it does take some exploration of the terrain to figure this out and I was messing with the thing for the first two frames. |
