http://www.squadselectseries.com - new map and summary up

First frame saw the Allies concentrate all their tac air and bombers on the two main airbases of the Luftwaffe in Holland. Many Tiffies were dispatched early to hit F23 which proved a difficult target to close. It did not help that the western Luftwaffe force was up quickly in fast climbing Bf109G14s. The fighting soon became thick and heavy over Walcheren Island with an eastern force of FW190A8s soon vectored into the area as the main RAF bomber force hit F23 and F26 from medium altitude. Though both airfields were eventually closed the cost to the Allies was high with 9 Mitchells, 8 Tiffes and a Spitfire being lost over the polders. German losses in this running battle were 3 Bf109s and 7 FW190s.

Quickly the RAF turned eastward into Germany hit the main supply center of Monchegladbeck. This time most of the attacking force was B25s with many new Spitfire XIV as escorts. The supply point at T48 was destroyed and the air fighting here was more even, the fast new Spitfires making themselves felt. At least 22 FW190s fell, 10 of which were FW190F8s conducting offensive strikes bounced on the way to target never getting their bombs out. A further 17 Bf109G14s were lost in the air defense over Germany. To this the Allies lost 23 Mitchells conducting their strikes down low just above medium flak and 9 Spitfires and 5 Typhoons protecting them.

Overall the Germans won the air battle by a narrow margin 56 confirmed kills to 49 for the Allies. Player numbers were equal almost all night which was not accounted for in the planning. No offensive strikes were able to make it through for the Luftwaffe so the Allies easily won the ground attack portion of the frame. But their losses in valuable medium bombers was too high at 34 more than half their entire loss over the night.

XXX Corp has launched its offensive toward Arnhem and the initial thrust has been a success with Eindoven taking by US paratroops and secured for the next advance. Map updated to show T36 Allied. M23 and L26 in the west are closed for the series.

Frame 1 was a win for the Germans 159 to 140 points. There is a bit of a hiccup in the log so I have ignored any LIFA results for individual tallies. For some reason the arena was acting up and even though 3 lives were set guys were not getting their third one and had to be reset. Fields were acting up as well. When destroyed they would not close even through CM commands. ETO is a bit weird that way but hopefully the new version will help.

Notes

1. New Terrain update. New planning map shows that instead of attached fields at each TAC base they are now unattached with their own number ie G112. New textures and objects. Removed the crazy amount of MGs in the tac fields and replaced them with heavier but fewer AAA. Added static shipping and GVs for targets. Indicated on planning map and ingame map. Please update before game day.

2. As noted some buggyness in frame 1 we will get this sorted out before next frame.

3. Lots of teleporting in first frame. Please check this before launching. Hopefully the new grass fields will help stop this.

Decided to ignore LIFA(Lost In Flying Accident) results for individual plus minus tallies. There was just way to many for some reason. Phenix is working on it but I think it may have been arena issues.
Based on this the Luftwaffe scored more points as individuals and won the frame by a narrow margin.

A little off the subject, but I can't log into the Warbirds forum.
"Any Finns out there?": a book I've read is called "Fighters Over Finland"
written by one of the veteran pilots of the Finish Air Force.
