http://www.squadselectseries.com - new map, list and summary up In Frame 3 the Allies decided to go back to the basics and mass their forces together in a medium altitude bomber group with strong Spitfire fighter escorts. Their initial attack on Dunkirk against shipping anchored there was a success with most of the 18 ships there and at the eastern port being sunk by B25s flying at 20,000ft. In the swirling dogfight at least ten B25s went down after accounting for two attackers. A further two Bf109s and Spitfire IXEs were lost in this initial sortie. The second sortie was farther south against Abbeville port and the V1 depot northeast at Domleger. A forward sweep ahead of the B25s met the Luftwaffe out at sea and even before the ships at Abbeville started erupting in flame ten defending fighters and six Spits and five B25s fell from the sky. All the ships at Abbeville were sunk and two V1 storage pens destroyed at Domleger. On the fight home one Spitfire and five Mitchells were lost. A lone B25 late in the frame returned to Dunkirk can sank at least one ship. Allies won their first frame 113 to 67 with the difference this frame being the 68 BDA points they scored more than double any previous frame. The series is close with the Luftwaffe leading 258 to 243. Frame 4 is this Sunday. Hope everyone spoiled the moms in their lives. Good Luck! Jabo |
