Post subject: | KCA Frame 2 Summary |
http://www.squadselectseries.com - new map, summary and rules clarifications up The Allies went heavy on their Hurricane IIBs this frame, deciding to hit the Panzers in the south early, hard and often. This they did over the night destroying 15 tanks, 14 halftracks and 7 AA guns. The majority of the action was down south against these Hurris with 109s fighting them tooth and nail to protect their ground forces. Nine hurribombers were shotdown but accounted for six 109s low over the pitiless desert. The Luftwaffe used its fast Ju88s throughout the night hitting in small groups against forward airbases in the south and east as well as hunting armed freighters off the coast toward El Alamein. First closed was LG123, then El Hamra(V48), G8 and last of the night G9. By then only a few Hurris and Ju88s were left to chase each other across the trackless desert. The main Luftwaffe anti-ship force crossed paths with the main allied strike force over the Med north of Sollum. In a series of engagements four Bf109s and four Ju88s were lost but accounted for two Wellingtons and two P40Bs. The Allied Wellington force closed the forward airfield at Sidi Azeiz(S23). The torpedo-carrying Ju88s managed to stalk and sink 4 armed freighters up and down the coast. Axis aircraft losses were higher than the Allies 18 to 13 and the Allies scored heavily on the ground but the Axis bombers sank more ships and did more BDA damage in the south and southeast, closing 4 bases, three of which were important forward airfields. Points have the Allies in the lead but BDA and pilot losses are not added in yet. Frame 3 is on Dec 4th. US Thanksgiving is off. Front has moved slightly with the Axis continuing their right flank and the Commonwealth their dogged attack toward Tobruk. Closed airfields are indicated and will be destroyed before play. Good Luck in Frame 3 |
