OK, A little frustrated and maybe someone can help.
I was scouting last frame and flew within 5~10 miles of the IJ fleet 3 or 4 times and never saw it. In the past, we would set minrender out as far as we could to see ships.
It is not working anymore. Coming back for bombing runs in my SBD at 15K, the carriers didn't render until I was within 5 miles of them so very low render range.

Anyone know what changed or how to fix it? that was crazy.

With a Carrier Battle Group in the neighborhood, the sea would be as much "wake white" as it would be "South Pacific Blue".

The following observations were made with these settings.

Screenie grabbed just as the CV rendered. Since the .vor feature for CVs has been disabled for some time, actual range is a guess.

With 35 mph of wind over the deck, this particular CV was noted NOT to be producing a wake.

Wake production seems to be "iffy". Sometimes it is there, sometimes it isn't.

Possible Solution: To get our pilots air borne and playing the game, possibly the Janitors should enable flight when the enemy CVs "should" be sighted by a scout which could find it IRL.

Personal Observation Dept: There is ALWAYS some glitch when naval operations are included in S3 Events.

I was told some years ago the ability to alter the .minrender setting was disabled.
As for the wakes of ships, I can remember in the past that the first time you render ships' wakes, and stay in a rendering distance, they will show. Once you go far enough away and then re-acquire ships once again there was no wake rendered. I don't know if that still holds true though.

Personally I have never adjusted minrender once in 8 years.

I think it may have had more merit in the old "classic" look game ?
Unknown therefore if it still has any effect or not.

The wake of the ships (along with things like dust trails for GVs) depends on which FX package you are using.
I for example, don't like the default Zvezda once much at all so have never used it, therefore I don't see any GV dust.

No big deal, I think coloured dust is pretty lame anyways.
Why they didn't make a universal "BROWN" dust colour is beyond me.
(Effectively it is airshow smoke for GVs)

If IEN offer different FX package options with the game - they should really be some consistency in what they show !
Ah there's that word again..

I don't know what happened to ships, you used to able to manoeuvre them pretty good, now you cant hardly control them at all (nav)

I happen to have used Helix Effects for quite a long time. Other pilots who also happen to use Helix have reported that they see "dust trails" with them, I NEVER have.
In regard to wakes, even when present, there is NEVER a starboard bow wave generated, essentially presenting 1/2 of the wake that one would "expect" to see.

In these situations I try and call out a spotted fleet if the scout is close enough to see them. I checked on the northern US scouts when they cleared two grids where the IJ was not. I had to jump back and forth between the two sets of scouts so may have missed the US scout getting close to the IJN fleet.
