http://www.squadselectseries.com - new summary up

It was a classic matchup over the Mediterranean skies, dark grey Spitfire VCs vs tan Bf109F4s. Initially it was the RAF that struck first with low Wellingtons hitting Lampedusa to the west of Malta. They took out the port facilities there and sank three ships at anchor. Luckily for them the RA was not present at the small field there. Further north at Pantelleria the Luftwaffe was on patrol but too far away to intercept the Wellingtons as they sped back to Malta.

At the same time the RAF hit Lampedusa several Italian SM79s attacked an inbound convoy from Gibralter to the SW of Malta sinking at least one freighter and damaging another. One RAF bomber was shotdown by flak. A scrambled spitfire squadron managed to shoot down 1 bomber. The battle over Malta was heating up with a large inbound force of Italian SM79s(He111 sub) escorted by two groups of Luftwaffe fighters. Scrambling at different times the RAF spitfire squadrons were vectored in by accurate RDF plotting and hit the bomber force from several angles. Numerous head-on attacks were reported and a fierce battle behind the bomber stream occurred between interceptors and escorts. A total of 14 bombers were shotdown along with 16 Bf109s but the spitfires suffered as well loosing 19. Damage to Valletta's northwest port was light with one ship being sunk at anchor.

The RAF defenders take the lead after frame 103 to 61. The main difference being the losses in bombers and lack of damage by the Luftwaffe force. Still need to add in the pilot losses for each side.

NOTES: due to the difficulty of registering the damage AI drones do during a frame, all damage will carry over from frame to frame, no lucky die rolls to rebuild. Bomber damage is based upon that scored by players in the log and then visual inspection of each target area after the frame to try and find damage done by the AI bombers. Rules and scoring adjusted accordingly.

Good Luck in Frame 2
