Post subject: | FG2 Frame 5 Summary |
http://www.squadselectseries.com/events ... ummary.pdf http://www.squadselectseries.com/events/FG2/FG2map.pdf Final frame saw a reverse in the Luftwaffe fortunes with most of their fighters in the new Bf109E4 facing only a few RAF Spitfires. The fast Luftwaffe Ju88s hit the Allied advance around T49 early in the frame causing extensive damage there. The Allies had moved their main air offensive toward the centre using their Wellingtons to hit T51 eventually the destruction caused their allowed French ground forces to capture another piece of Germany. With all effort focused around the centre and north between T51 and T48 the Luftwaffe sent in their fast bombers to hit the southern flank causing heavy damage to T46 and T47. The air battle was intense in the centre with 24 Bf109s being lost but they took a heavy toll of RAF Wellingtons downing 16 plus an additional 20 Allied fighters, the majority being Hawk 75s. Only one Ju88 was lost during the night showing that speed at altitude was their angel. The Luftwaffe won the final frame 110 to 82. The difference was the extra 20 points they scored in aircraft kills. The Allies took the series but it was a close run thing; 312 to 301. The Allies won frames 1,2 and 4. The Axis 3 and 5. The Allies scored more points in confirmed kills(147 to 107) but the Luftwaffe scored higher in BDA (156 to 119) with enemy pilots losses relatively even with an edge to the Allies(46 to38). FEBA battle system had fits with the ETO. Its really not set up for proper tactical events due to the way the tac fields are organized with spawn points far far apart. The FEBA system holds lots of promise for MA around the clock battles where the point of action is at one location and can move quickly with proper support. For designed events where planning is required and wanted it is hard not to have any CM input in the point or direction of attack. I am sure this can be overcome in the future. Only 1 out of 3 events in the S3s are even remotely tactical so we thought trying in this last tactical series of the year would be beneficial to help direct the development of the FEBA system for events. Generally most players continue to dislike the critters when they move or interact with them. As static targets they are not too disagreeable but the new terrains generally already have static ships, tanks and aircraft. FG2 marks the last series where we have designated roles for squads. There will be a range of aircraft that the squads on each side must determine how best to use. Unfortunately the days of dozens of bomber and strike pilots flying together are over. Always the optimist, after 17 years you have to be, we hope that new developments and graphics will attract the keen newbies that will develop into the hardcore sim players we need to keep these events alive. Still crazy after all these years. <SALUTE> |

Jabo, I agree with Jabo! Sunday's wouldn't be the same without all the hard work you put into these events. I too hope new blood will come in and fill the skies with plenty of bombers to do mass raids again. <S> |
