http://www.squadselectseries.com S3#96 – Shidens In The Clouds; Japan Islands - Spring 1945 With the war all but lost Japan frantically produces new fighters to defend their homeland. Assailed from distant bases by silver B29s and P51s the Japanese pilots must also contend with a swarm of navy blue aircraft launched from just off their shores. Nowhere is safe for the few experienced pilots Japan has left and they daily rise to the occasion against heavy odds in the best traditions of Bushido. This event will highlight both industrial attacks by high altitude B29s and on the deck torpedo attacks by TBF-1Cs. The Allies can decide which type of operation to favor but the action will range across Japan and out to sea. For Japan will not sit quietly by when they have so many clamouring to be Kamikazes. Our next event starts Jan 10th in the S3 Arena at 8:30PM Eastern/5:30 PM Pacific. Please continue testing on AI for bombers and strike. Thank you Jabo. I have a rules clarifications question: From the Player rules: Quote: Penalty Planes - poorer performing a/c will be assigned to any pilot that breaks the hard and fast rules. Do not; * Fly after being reset if you have been a confirmed kill in the buffer. Ask your squad. From the Game rules: Quote: 5. Squad Aircraft - each pilot may fly the At Start Aircraft listed for their squad in the A/C table. After each frame any pilot that is listed as a confirmed kill in the frame summary must fly a different aircraft from the one they were shot down in for next frame. Variants of each type count as a different aircraft(ie J2M2 and J2M3). It is up to each individual pilot to be aware of and to follow this rule. In BHP, you had to fly another plane only if your pilot actually died in a frame. As such you were not penalized for a ditch, bail or capture. From the rules for SITC, I take it confirmed kill means any instance where you lose your plane and a kill message (usually) pops up in the buffer, and it doesn't matter if your pilot died, bailed, ditched, discoed or were captured? <S> /Robert |

Yes that is right Robert. I will just look at the confirmed kills from each frame and post them. This includes friendly fire incidents as well. A rather simple system to mix up the planes a tiny bit. Since we have several of the best planes in the game its not too hard on pilots. |

The rules state that the Allies must announce where they are attacking, but it does not say when. The Japanese need some time to make plans, all other series like this they had to announce by Wednesday. |

Maybe give them until tomorrow as its a long way across the Pacific and Truman is new at the job. |

Beaver wrote: The rules state that the Allies must announce where they are attacking, but it does not say when. The Japanese need some time to make plans, all other series like this they had to announce by Wednesday. 3. Operational Restrictions - each side may only conduct operations in the area outlined in the game map. There are two designated target areas, the Naval Operations Area and the USAAF Operations Area, only one of which can be attacked during a frame. Before each frame the Allies must announce which area they will conduct operations against. Only surface targets in that designated area may be attacked during the frame but flight operations and squad basing can take place outside that area. Heavy bombers may only attack targets inside the USAAF area. This applies to the Japanese as well. Each area must be attacked at least twice in the series. Technically, doesn't 8:29 PM Eastern or 5:29 Pacific PM on Sunday qualify? Currently Gen. Arnold and Adm. Halsey are being rather reluctant to share their plans. Having said that, Beaver's observations are certainly accurate. In the interim, here's a note from Curtis LeMay that may be of assistance. |

Thats correct its a grid and a half for 60 miles in this large terrain. If you want to sneak in its below 500ft. Also in a target rich environment the grey dots do allow aircraft to be jumped on climb out. |
