The Italians pushed hard in the southwest corner of the front initially and the Allies soon followed suit. While a large Italian bomber force hit NE Greece at F158 and later 144 and 145 the RAF sent in their Blenheims against 117 and 115 in southern Albania. The RAF suffered heavy attrition in the fighting and were not able to contest the later attacks of the Italians on the northern section of the front. The Axis closed 4 fields, missing another by 5 seconds at shutoff time while the Allies only managed 1.
Losses again in bombers was the difference with the RAF loosing 35 Blenheims and the Axis only 10 SM79s and stukas. The surprising versatile and tough MC200 continued to dominate, claiming 21 kills including 13 of the newest Hurricane IIBs. The RAF Hurricanes could only claim 8 aircraft in return, 4 of which were MC200s.
Due to the supremacy of the Italians in the air their ground forces were able to rout the Greeks defending much of the southwestern part of the front. Corfu has been abandoned and for only the second time since their offensive the Italians are once again inside Greece. Allied controlled 158, 144, 145 are closed and inoperable for frame 5. Axis controlled 117 is closed as well.
RAF command has decided the Blenheim, like in the ETO, cannot be used during day operations. The Dolittle Raiders may upgrade to the Wellington and Hurricane IIb for the final frame.
The Italians have a insurmountable lead going into the final frame but their is pride on the line, the Allies will try to win at least one frame.
