We figured out the Wingman problem. Once you are airborne, click on the wingman and drag it out to sea just ahead of your current position. Do the same for each wingman. Once they are feet wet, order them to form up and they speedily comply. Was kinda scary with no Icons to see some planes closing fast on your 6
On our first sortie, the wingmen just rolled into the hills around the airfield, for the second sortie the wingmen were with us
