So... According to several vocal persons who try to convince others about this "truth", this is apparently how the Flightmodel Development Team works:

A NORMAL DAY IN THE FM TEAM FORUM
(This scenario is of course just a joke to illustrate how absurd the accusations are)
Dawger: Ok guys, time to revise a new fighter. Any ideas?
Jugggo: Go with the P-38.
Dawger: Let's make it über!!! That would piss people off :twisted:
=Dobs=: Haha nice idea.
=VSLP=: Haha, yeah, make sure it is at least 30 mph faster than it should be.
Robert: Cool, make it climb way unhistorical too, and turn faster than it should.
Dawger: Haha, the look on peoples faces. So how should we produce this new FM, just on a hunch like always...?
Grumpy: Yeah, screw 30+ hours of research and datamining... just make it a UFO.
Dawger: Haha this will be fun, since I apparently am the one deciding the performance and not the datasheets, let's make it a go. Any objections? Juice=?
Juice=: Nah, I'm fine with it. I'll fly a Sopwith Camel and kill you all anyways.
=Dobs=: Then it is decided. =Jman= and SPINDZ, please put this crap in the updater ;)
=jman=: Haha this new FM is hilarious, people will be outraged.
SPINDZ: Lol... You guys...
Robert: Ok , I've now tested it thoroughly, it doesn't fly any bit like historically supposed to. This will be great. The outrage... :D
Dawger: So what FM to make next?
Idunno: Let's take a Ki-61 and make it SUCK.

With regard to many of the comments I saw in the S3 yesterday, there are actually people who fully believe this to be true and try to flame, blame and shame the Flightmodel team infront of the community. People will never cease to amaze me...

ummmmm to be perfectly clear......I have zero say so or input into the work being done on Flight models....was asked to step aside, so I resigned, many weeks ago........

Or... maybe it's more thruthful to say that there are individuals who volunteerly spend shitloads of hours to make the new FM's as historically accurate as possible. People with jobs/university studies who spend their freetime evening hours for several weeks to mine the best data they can find. They'll then note it all down in datasheets like the example pictures I'll post below. This data is what Dawger then runs exactly as presented to him in the FM generator, filling in only where there are gaps in data found, at the best of his knowledge about aerodynamics.

The new flightmodel is then released for testing in the AFMA etc. Any abnormal behaviour is reported back from the testers or ordinary players who find them, and the flightmodel is in a constant state of re-tweaking until it's satisfactorily historically accurate. This is regardless to if the error is found at once or over a year later. The more people who fly the new models the more bugs will be found. Errors presented with data and sources to back it up, is greatly appreciated by the FM team.

And then there are those who claim the new FMs are wrong!!! But don't give a rat's arse to present any actual evidence except: Yeah, on wikipedia it said: "Climbrate: 2700 ft/min".
This without stating: How much did the airplane actually weight at the test? At what exact altitude was that? At what throttle was that? Any other modifications to the tested aircraft? Source?

Some examples of the Spitfire IXb, which I personally spent 40+ effective hours on completing the data for + testing the finished product. So yeah, Dawger just makes new flightmodels on a hunch, right?

Robert,

Thank you for the hard work you do for us, but the above post is alarming. What I take from it and please correct me if I am wrong is that they purposely are porking the P38 regardless what the historical numbers are.

Am I right or wrong? If I am right, this will become a game changer and has major consequences.

No sir, the first post scenario was a joke, to show how absurd accusations some people throw against the FM team. I will update the first post to avoid confusion.

Well that is good to hear! Please make sure people know this is a joke because some will take this as not a joke. I wish I had half the knowledge you all do in gathering information on the plane sets.

That's the whole point of the thread Hawk.
I heard that rumor back when I was in the 69th...

Today's rumor is that the FMT has purposely made the p38 unbeatable.
It isn't true but that's the rumor they'll spread.
Everyone would like to believe the worst. It's human nature.
Those who tend towards believing the worst without a little investigation are a huge problem.
Especially when new players come on and they're fed a steady diet of rumors.
Backed up by zealous vehemence, it's killing the game Hawk.
You took robert's post in the wrong way?
I saw it as a rather sad sort of a post.
All that work just to be beat up by those who don't help.
It's so much easier to criticize than it is to pick up a tool and toil alongside those who are working hard.

I agree with you 100% and I for one do appreciate all that you do. I know it's not easy and a labor of love. I want this game to succeed just the like rest of us. Still I wish I could help but don't even know where to begin so I leave up to you wackoo's to do all the hard work.
