S3 Season 17 - 2015 to 2016 This season we will be exploring the new FM revisions for many of the aircraft in WarBirds. Some match-ups that we could not attempt before under the old FMs we are hopefull will now become classics. New fighters like the P36 Hawk, MC200 Saetta and N1C1 Shinden will provide a new challenge for our hardcore players that have fought in every theatre many times over. Another great development in WarBirds is the ability for bomber and strike pilots to command their drones after losing their lead aircraft. This allows S3s to compensate for the lower number of bombers\strike pilots we are seeing and make the drones much more effective in conducting ground attacks. We will feature six historical events this year covering the air war in WW2 from New Guinea to Normandy. Check our our Schedule http://www.squadselectseries.com/schedule.htm for dates. We expect over 100 players each frame and squads will switch between axis and allied each series as outlined in our Squadroles http://www.squadselectseries.com/squadroles.htm. Numbers can be located on the numbers PDFhttp://www.squadselectseries.com/archive/files/squad%20numbers%202015to16.pdf. Our new season starts September 13th in the S3 New Guinea Arena at 8:30PM Eastern/5:30 PM Pacific. Start practicing on the new Ki61 and P38G. Bomber\strike pilots need to familiarize themselves with the new interface for commanding your drones. Its a different login than those used by fighter pilots who will not have drones. Good Luck and thanks for sticking by us all these years. |

Yup, those are all Mondays. The 14th, 21st, and 28th are also each the day after an S3 Event. S3s are still at the same time and station as always. |

There are some videos done to show how to assign your wingmen in the new interface. Here is one by Idunno. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... KDqooCLjEj This is part of a larger discussion on combined arms on the IEN site. S3 will be using the typical WarBirds setup for now and not the contested field setup of combined arms. The bomber\GV drone layout of combined arms will be used in S3s. |

This is a brilliant us of the AI wingmen! Couple of questions: 1. Will they be stuck in welded wing? In other words, if the bomber pilot decides to send his AI wingman back to finish a target and tun dies in his own aircraft won't it b disorienting to b in a plane that may be going 180° in the opposite direction he was going before he died? 2. How will you score and track the multiple deaths of a single pilot that transferred from a destroyed bomber to an AI wingman? 3. Has the "goofy" behavior of the AI finally been ironed out? Last I heard, 4-engine buff AIs were div bombing targets she ordered to "strike". 4. Will fighter pilots get full credit for killing an AI wingman? Even with issues, this is still the best thing for buff pilots! |

As long as they are not in 50' trail.......aka wingman shield. |

If you throw away your wingman you will have less lives so that wouldnt be smart. The idea is guys in bombers can jump to another craft and continue the mission. So there will be a few minor limits on deployment distance as we had previously but generally it allows bomber pilots to live as long as their 3 man box. There is a limit on the number of AI wingman so we cannot go too high on this. |

We definitely need a code change to eliminate close trail formation |
