I received a call from pappyb's wife of 64 years today, Carol. She let me know that pappyb passed on March 29, 2015 after complications with heart bypass surgery. The 4th will be sending something to family, exactly what to be determined. It is a very sad loss for many of us who knew him including me. Even though I've known him for many years it was over the past 2 years that he and I became very close and the news has really knocked me back a bit. The 4th is working with Wild Bill to setup a session with our Chaplin and the squad to do a missing man formation and will post here when it is worked out. He lived a good life flying the F-100 under the handle of "Bass" and worked on the Apollo Lunar lander module. I hope you all will join us for the flyover and anyone with questions or otherwise PM or email me notesmd AT Comcast DOT net. |

Such bad news to read, but I thank you for posting for us. I've had the pleasure of many interesting conversations with pappyb on teamspeak, and in correspondence during my stay with the 4th FG. Even after I left the 4th FG, we had many great conversations. Salutes to the 4th FG. The loss of Pappyb effects not only you guys, but the entire community here. We sure lost a great one in Carmine Bassano. Blue skies sir. |
