Japan has declared war on the United States with an opening attack on Pearl Harbor on Hawaii's main island of Oahu.

Around 9:10pm EDT a force of 17 level bombers and 42 supporting fighters attacked ships and military targets at Pearl Harbor, the US Navy's main port there. Almost simultaneously several communication and observation posts on the island were attacked by Zero dive bombers. Strafing planes bearing the red circle of the Imperial Japanese Navy ruled the island immediately after the attack.

A force of 36 USAAF was then dispatched to find the Japanese Carriers that were assumed to have launched the attack. They caught the enemy off guard and a fight broke out NW of the island.

A 2nd attack was then hurled at Wheeler field, ultimately making the field unusable. Overall, IJN level bombers took out 26 targets. Their fighter comrades took out 35 more and destroyed 26 USAAF P40's. 7 Zeroes were claimed by US fighter pilots, and it is believed they suffered other losses as well.

There are also reports of attacks on US and British military installations across the Pacific in places like the Island of Guam, and near Manilla, the capitol of the Philippines. Recall that Japan has signed treaties with Germany and Italy and is no doubt expanding the war on freedom loving countries.
