Salute! Banzai! One mo' time I have practiced offlne using the stoopid "instant action" thing or whatever. Does not act like the real S3 arena. Secondly, how come the boats are not in the "practice" option? I have not been able to catch a wire but 20% of the time when touching in the shaded area and wires clearly visible. Would rather bolt than have a ramp strike. But it gets old. So one fellow recommended I just gently belly land and slither to a halt. Works every time!!! It's cheating, dammit. How come we can't have the boats cruising back and forth in the real arena.? Gums whines.... |

Gummy-san, Offline, you need to select Carrier Ops from the Instant Action button. ~S~ ~Sakai Sends. |

^^^ There seems to be a discussion going on as to what FMs and settings are available in different Arenas. While I personally use the "Carrier Ops" option to practice carrier landings, I am not convinced that the settings in "Instant Action" are completely similar to those in the S3 Arena. As an example, every time I use the "Instant Action" arena, my views automatically switch from my personal preference to "pan view". Simply stated: all settings in all Arenas are not currently similar. Having observed that, and realizing that the discussion is about stopping on the deck, one must mention that lining-up on a Kaga class carrier is sorta like lining-up on.....well, that IS a different discussion. |

Salute! Tnx Wolf for back-up. @ Sakai, the "instant action" doofer is what I referenced in my whine. In S3 we can also set speed for the CV. Can't do that in the "instant ops" thing. My most interesting observation was more trim settings required on the 'doze machine I normally use for planning and rough practice than on my superior Mac machine in the war room. Dunno why, as I use same sticks and have same 'net connect and so forth. Noflyz made a file we could use last series or even first frame this one. It had the boats moving and you could even change the speed. Then we used the "loadmo" dot command and could practice using real S3 settings but offline after logging on and then going offline. I can't unnerstan why we can't have this as part of normal S3 ops. The closed arena for 4 days is bugging me. Gums whine continues... |

The AFMA has CV's in it and the same flight models as the S3 arena. |

Are you pulling back enough on the stick when the wheels touch the CV deck sir? You won't catch the wire unless the tailwheel actually makes physical contact with it. I had the "missed the wire again" issue for some time until I learnt this trick. Cheers! /Robert 4th FG |
