Done :).

Btw Attention all PC hardware geeks! Can this be fixed? My graphics card-fan suddenly went bananas when I switched on the computer some day ago. Sounds like a freakin' Bf109  .

If you know for sure the blades are not hitting anything then its probably a bad bearing or bushing which ever that model has. If that's the case you could order a new fan for the card by matching the model or order it from the manufacture of the card. You could unplug the fan at the risk of overheating the card. (NOT recommended) although it would be quieter. If all else fails its time for a new card.

But before you do anything, could you record that sound and maybe iEN will put it in the game somewhere. :)

Thanks Drdart.
Guess I will remove the fan tomorrow and see if I can fix it by some basic poking with a screwdriver. Otherwise I'll order a whole new graphics card. My pre-historic Radeon HD 4800 series card can't even be bought anymore, so I guess an upgrade was well needed anyway :-).

That happened to me once and I called the maker of the card and they dropped a fan in the mail for me free of charge.

Ty phenix, will try that. Dunno if they'll do it for such an outdated card as a Radeon HD 4800 series though.

Btw I have a tingling sense I've found out what causes the disequilibrium of my fan:

A blade has somehow fallen off.

Edit: I've settled for the Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti. Hope it's a good choice.

Hoping to be airborne soon :-)

I think you will be very very pleased Robert. The Radeon benchmark was under 700 on Passmark (a video speed tool) while the GTX 750 is @25000. Definitely a good choice for what it's retail value is and more than enough card to run Warbirds
(just watch the temp...those newer cards can heat up fast)
