The Japanese will have an unhistorical advantage in the event coming up. In the first battle of Truk 16 to 18 Feb 1944, they had 365 Zekes ( A6M-2's), Hamps ( A6M-3's) , and Rufe's (A6M-2 Float planes).

The A6M-5 did not start production until one month after the battle had taken place. However this is the fighter listed to be flown by axis side exclusive.

Probably ought to address this right away, especially given the known condition of the A6M3. I'm not saying its bad, I have no horse in that race, but it is very different than it was and will require a lot more practice.

Not sure what he means by can't talk on the S3, could someone shoot him an email?

Since the fighter guys are pretty much all changing sides this will be a good test of the new FMs.
I do like to make it historical if possible.

A6M3s and A6M2s it is then. Pilots choice.

If I may be so bold…….

Which is it?
Why now?
What the hell?

Confused as to how to test anything anymore to prepare……

A6M3s and A6M2s.

I appreciate that players do their research and correct me if I am wrong. According to Blu there was no A6M5as even in production at this time in history. Kinda like having the Bf109F4 in a BoB event.

The F6F5 wasn't in production either. April 1944

The real reason not to switch aircraft is because there is an update coming out next week or so and it includes the A6M2 (major revision) and A6M3 (minor tweaks)(I didn't do the A6M5 because of this S3) and it will be a FORCED update. So we will be getting brand new FM's in the middle of an S3 if this plan to use earlier Zekes stands.

Jabo (et al), In light of what Dawger said above, I would ask that consideration be made to keep the original setup of A6M5 vs F6f. We have had a lot of A6M3s in the last year and have not had this matchup in a long time - probably more than five years.

Might as well leave it F6Fs vs A6M5.
Neither plane would have been in service at that point and it might be a little more even.

True it will be a fantasy event, 2 planes that were not there. 3 if you include he TBD.
Dont want to have one side switch with a different FM as it will make it less even.

Back to regular programming.
