8 PM Eastern World War II Arena

Basic Setup will be human bombers (B-17) versus current S3 Axis fighters.

Airstarts for both. Bombers airstart from any field on Malta. Target is F9 in Sicily.

Bomber pilots are requested to use auto level and report all damage on channel 100 in real time.

ENEMY NAMES WILL BE ON SO WE CAN SEE WHO IS SHOOTING WHO.

Axis airstart from any field in Sicily.

Minimum fuel 70% for all.

BT at 1.0 to start.

S3 settings in all respects except for BT.

I would like to get as much video from bomber and shooter perspective as possible so warm up the cameras.

The goal is to evaluate the current bomber hit map changes, and damage values using S3 sysvars and discover any areas that need attention.

If we have a large population and good video from the test the Allied escorts will be enabled at 9 PM to spice it up.

DISCLAIMER: This is not intended to have any influence whatsoever on the present series nor any future S3 series. It is intended to gather information to be used to guide damage model development for the game overall.

Salute!

Gotta love it.

Did this a long time ago to get things set right and should have been doing it often, ya think?

One thing we should do is disable otto, at least for some of the runs. Once we have some data, we might enable otto with the Allied lites and let us change the otto settings. We players cannot change all otto params, but we can change a few that make a difference, such as "open fire" range "burst length" and such.

No box formation unless otto is off, huh?

We may have to do many passes unless the CM can read the damage to each section in real time. And can the CM even read the damage to a section? If not, then we have to shoot at a specific section until the plane goes down or has serious damage as shown on the buff's radio buffer.

I will volunteer to stay level with otto off while a lite methodically shoots one wing off or the other. Re-up and let a lite try the tail section. Then motors. If we have enuf buffs, we can have each one test the specific areas, and that saves us time.

TEAMSPEAK!!!!!! Maybe use UMM's new freq?

ACM cam for each test run! Save and annotate after your crash, heh heh.

Need a buff leader, but I will make every effort to be there.

Its gonna make a diff what ac ya use against the buffs. Remember that the axis developed their later models with gun packages designed specificly to down buffs. I would not expect spectacular results from a g6 armed with a single 20 mm, so its a4 time and g6r6 time as well as the k model with a r6 package!

The timer script is for 3 hours but I doubt anyone has the endurance for that.

First hour is bombers and Axis fighters only. After that, if there are lots of hard working people there the Allied fighters may be turned on and we can have a full fledged practice melee.

But if we have folks more interested in the straight up testing side we may keep the Allied fighters off. If BT 1.0 is easy mode, it will get raised for the next round.

After each change everyone will get sent to tower to start over.

As to Gums various and sundry points....

I want to see the full up otto on behavior and the effects of folks doing S3 style attacks and I hope to see a wide cross section of skill levels in the Axis fighters.

As close to the "live" event as we can get because that is the piece we are missing.

And I intend this to be a baseline for future developments.

Video everything possible. Type damage in the text channel for the video of others and if you are running a camera talk to the audience.

I will be flying a bomber at the start for sure.

Common TS for bombers is good idea but since I REALLY want "live" test results the Axis should be off channel.

I will try to show up to fly a bomber to help the testing process.

I see this as a potential revenue enhancement event in the future. Kind of like a dunking booth.

Pay $5 and you have 3 lives available to shoot down dawger in a bomber - Special scripted taunts that include things like:

1) "how do you like your damage model now sucker"
2) "how could I possibly miss a head shot with a head that big"
3) "you're not so bad without your friends around are you"
4) "you're MY HO now"
5) "you wanted human vs human, well here ya go"

Then again, dawger is so personable, and tactful, that most people probably wouldn't have the heart to treat him like that

love ya dawger!

NO, NO, NO, No!!!!!!

After we determine the buff tuff, then we can determine otto effectiveness. Can use S3 ( Jabo) settings, and then allow us to change some parameters.

We never tested two "independent" variables on a single test here at Eglin. Same same for Edwards. We could get data for many "dependent" variables and then work up regression equations to determine the weight of the specific independent variable on the dependent ones plus the whole.

I will post the dot commands for otto later, but some parameters are fixed by the CM ( Jabo). Nevertheless, we can change some ourselves, and the sim will tell us what ones we cannot change.
