The Allies were busy up in the Northwest of Sicily with their Beaufighters taking out two radar stations while the Axis concentrated on hitting the Allied landing beaches early with many low fighters carrying bombs. Over the night the Allied beachheads were ravaged and even the heavy AAA from protecting destroyers did not stop the successful closure of five Allied beaches. The Allies moved in mid-frame with a large force of Wellingtons but the British bombers best at night actions were hopelessly outclassed during the day, hit hard by intercepting 109s many were lost.
Later in the frame a large fight developed between Malta and the Allied beaches between P40s and Axis fighters, it was back and forth with both sides playing it smart and not being trapped on the deck. At least two allied freighters were sunk out at sea by low 190 fighter bombers.

New map up with the Allies ashore but proceeding slowly out of their closed beachheads. Best advances have been in the centre where the 1st Canadian Division has penetrated up into the rugged foothills north of the tip of Sicily. Allies can base at 167 and 172 to start. LS can be used later after initial launch to replane. AI shipping indicated in the approximate areas of the map arrows. This is for reference only and not an exact indicator of position.

Axis got a great lead in points in frame 2 and it is up to the Allies to claw back now they are on the mainland. Final points summary to come once the S6 is updated.

One penalty plane assigned for a field warp that was not immediately corrected. Dolch of JG77 has to fly a Ju52 to start frame3.

Salute!

Frame 2 was a knockout for the Axis, 252 pts to 64 for the Allies. Biggest advantage in points was in the amount of shipping both AI and static that the Axis sunk at the beachheads. With most of them closed for Frame 3 it will be harder to find and sink ships.

Summary updated on the main page.

Of course the Canadians made the best advances, always the best forces at advancing :)

Log officials have pointed out a field warp that was not corrected. Updated summary to reflect this.

Auto field selection should not have allowed this to happen. Penalty will be carried out.

Also please all exit the plane once you have ditched. To get his kill, one of our pilots had to wait in twr for 15+ minutes until the guy he oiled (at the deck) finally exited the plane. Let's play by the rules and keep up the sportsmanship.
