http://www.squadselectseries.comAllied forces continue to use the TBD as their strike a\c of choice. Used as a level bomber they attacked to outlying flak positions and closed them, a final die-hard TBD sacrificed himself and his wingman in closing F23 late in the frame. Losses in TBDs were moderate with 7 being claimed by Japanese zeros. But Japanese losses continue to be heavy with 33 zeros falling to 24 USN aircraft claimed in return. A number of USN a\c were lost due to carrier accidents so the total losses from all causes was probably very even.
Japanese interception was farther from the Truk atoll in frame 3 and several zeros were still flying interference at frames end so USN dominance was not as evident as in frame 2. The USN still won frame 3 but when all losses are accounted for it will be closer than indicated on the summary at this time.
USN leads the IJN 293 to 258. Pilot losses and other a/c losses await the S6 for a final tally.
]F25 and F23 will be destroyed before play for the final frame.
Good Luck in the final frame.
