Its funny how pilots percieve things differently, they are right but for the wrong reasons. The gunners on the IL2s have always been the same they are set for 100 skill and 100 gunnery. Its the damage model that needed working. It was slowly ramped up from frame to frame to find that sweet spot where the IL2 began to represent the real life beast it was. Instead of downing them with a short burst you have to really lay into them giving the gunners plenty of time to blast you from 8000ft in. That was their engagement range. The other factor could be a few IL2 formations had 4 planes instead of 2 but most of the time they didnt seem to stay together and even with the best settings the AI flew into the hills around Sevastopol all the time or swirled around attacking balloons over the port.

Just using the number given:)

d10 is 1000 yards or 3000 feet correct?

Good to know they have UberS 50s:)

Tried to get all Eastern and Center groups into the mass of Reds...ended up piecemeal vs mass. Had the makings of the Mother of all Furballs:)

8000 means they will engage targets in that area, the gun can only shoot as far as it is able. For some reason I could never get the IL2s to strafe or use any other ord than bombs even though they looked like they were doing strafing runs. Will have Dan look into it.

I noticed a few IL2s engaged the balloons over some targets and were flying very tight vertical circles around them. They were tough to shoot while in that mode.
