Frame 1 an Allied victory. 105 pts to 71.5 pts.
As expected, the IJAAS easily wrested air superiority from the beleaguered forces of the RAF and RAAF. Ki-43s dominated the skies, downing 25 enemy aircraft at the cost of only 5 Ki43s and 2 Ki27s in air to air combat. IJN G4M1s supporting the IJAs assault on Kota Bharu destroyed much of the Allied installations, but many bombs were reported to have struck trees. Allied intelligence can only assume the IJN aviators mistook these for some kind of camouflaged radio equipment. IJAAS fighters strafed down the last of the defences at Kota Bharu, but a spirited defense by anti-aircraft gunners cost the IJAAS fighters dearly, with an additional 3 Ki-43s and 3 Ki27s falling to their guns.
RAAF Blenheims and RAF Vildebeest torpedo bombers struck back at the invaders. Blenheims destroyed fuel stocks, trucks and some light tanks advancing on Alor Star, but it was insufficient to stop the IJA juggernaut. So to were the valiant attempts by the Vildebeest crews to sink IJN tranports carrying the IJA assault forces to Kota Bharu. One transport was sunk for the loss of five aircrews, but the IJA was already ashore and captured the town.
Some irregularities with the arena set-up. For unknown reasons axis dar range appeared to be much longer than 15 miles. We will endeavour to have that rectified for frame 2.
Air-to-ground scoring significantly adjusted as compared to pre-frame values. Scoring now skewed less in the Allied favour as Axis bombing was far less effective than anticipated by the Janitors.
