Imperial Japanese Hidden Rules

Changes in Italics

Operational Groups - the IJ force is divided into 3 operational groups, each with their own operational mission for each frame.

  • Bomber Intercept - begins the series with a max of 8 steps assigned to this group.
  • CAP - begins the series with a max of 8 steps assigned to this group.
  • Kamakaze - begins the series with a max of 4 steps assigned to this group and must include the MFs.

Aircraft Steps - the IJ fighter force has 14 squad steps with the following a/c steps available for the series.

  • Ki84 - 12 steps - 2 a/c = 12 steps - 11 a/c = 10 steps(1) - 20 = 7 steps(3) - 8 = 6 steps(5)
  • J2M - 8 steps - 8 a/c = 7 steps - 6 a/c = 6 steps(2) - 7 = 5 steps(3) - 6 = 4 steps(3)
  • Ki61 - 8 steps - 3 a/c = 8 steps - 6 a/c = 7 steps(3) - 2 = 7 steps(5) - 4 = 6 steps(3)
  • Ki44 - 4 steps - 0 a/c = 4 steps - 0 a/c = 4 steps - 0 = 4 steps - 0 = 4 steps
  • A6M5A - 2 steps - 0 a/c = 2 steps - 0 a/c = 2 steps - 0 steps = 2 steps - 0 = 2 steps

Kamakazes - the Menacing Ferrets are the sole Kamakaze force of the IJ. Each player of that squad may fly an escort life in a Ki84 that will be scored in the regular way. At anytime during the frame each of the MFs may fly 3 sorties in a Kamakaze a/c, every sortie by a Kamakaze player must use a different Kamakaze a/c. These include Ki43, Kate, Val and Betty. All Kamakaze sorties must carry ord and end in death. The Kate and Betty sortie may use an AI wingman. These will be removed later from the log for individual scoring purposes for the series. MFs must contact the CM to get their lives reset for Kamakaze duty. It is up to each player to remember the number and type of Kamakaze duties they have left. Kamakazes should take a screenshot or video of their sorties to help clarify if a hit on a ship was scored. Kamakazes are encouraged to drop their ord to try and sink ships before they crash into them.
